The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together, just like Christmas in the West. The Chinese government now stipulates people have seven days off for the Chinese Lunar New Year. Most factories and logistics companies have longer holidays than the national regulations, as many workers are far from home and can only reunite with their families during the Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival falls on the 1st day of the 1st lunar month, often one month later than in the Gregorian calendar. Strictly speaking, the Spring Festival starts every year in the early days of the 12th lunar month and will last till the mid-1st lunar month of the following year. The most important days are Spring Festival Eve and the first three days.
Importers from other countries familiar with the Chinese market will buy goods in bulk before the Spring Festival.
This is not only because they need to restock in advance, but also because the cost of raw materials and transportation will go up after the Spring Festival holiday. Because of the volume of goods after the holiday, flight and shipping schedules will be longer, and express companies' warehouses will stop receiving goods due to lack of capacity.
